Tomato, mozzarella and basil topped with a balsamic glaze makes a classic caprese salad! This is one of my favorite combinations and I thought it would taste even better on a burger. I typically make my burgers about ¼ pound each but my dad had these awesome ½ pound burgers from Allen Brothers that we decided to use. I wanted to elevate the burger just a little more so I decided to make balsamic caramelized onions and added a buttery toasted brioche bun. If you are looking for a way to elevate your burgers you will definitely want to try this recipe!

Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 to 2 lbs of Ground Beef depending on how large you want the patties
4 Brioche Buns
1 White Onion
1 Beefsteak Tomato
4 to 6 Basil Leaves
4 Slices of Mozzarella Cheese
Balsamic Glaze
2 tbsp of Butter
4 leaves of Lettuce - bibb, lettuce or a spring mix will work!
Worcestershire Sauce
1. Form the ground beef into four patties. Season with salt, pepper and worcestershire sauce. Slice tomato into 4 slices and thinly slice the basil leaves and white onion.
2. On the stove heat a medium sized pan over medium to high heat. Add 2 tbsp of butter and add the sliced white onions. Saute the onions for 5 minutes until they start to turn translucent. Reduce heat to low and continue to saute for another 12 to 15 minutes until the onions are golden brown. Add 1 to 2 tbsp of balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar and stir to combine. Leave onions on low heat until the burgers are done.
3. Preheat the grill to medium heat. Add burgers and grill for 3 to 5 minutes on each side until desired doneness.
4. Toast brioche buns in the oven at 400 degrees for 3 to 5 minutes or add to the grill.
5. Add lettuce to the bottom brioche bun. Top with the burger, onions, tomato, mozzarella, some additional balsamic glaze and sliced basil. Enjoy!
