Healthy and Homemade Twix Bars!

If you are looking for a fun, easy and relatively healthy baking endeavor these homemade Twix bars are for you! While these treats don't necessarily taste exactly like a Twix, they are delicious and satisfying. The recipe has coconut in it so the overall flavor profile is kind of similar to a Girl Scout Samoa Cookie. I ended up combining two recipes based on what I had in my pantry and they actually turned out great! I used Rachael's Good Eats Almond Butter Caramel Layer and it is so simple and so good. I am highly considering making a batch of the "caramel" just to have on hand. I used the Half Baked Harvest Shortbread recipe and also followed their directions on coating the entire bar in chocolate. I only dipped my bars once based on how much chocolate I had and it was still a great ratio of shortbread, "caramel" and chocolate. Definitely give either of these recipes a try or combine them like I did!
